Day In Yelapa

Adventure to Yelapa

We decided to not pay for an organized tour to go to this popular beach south of Vallarta and it was a great decision. Started with gathering info about transportation from the locals and we felt comfortable with what we got.

Art interacting with the locales

We met in the morning and found our way to the local bus stop with the bus that is coloured orange or with orange color on it. The good thing about Vallarta is that they color code their bus routes, maybe even other things too, I’m not sure.

Bus stop by the oxxo

For eight pesos, we reached Boca with no issues. Once you hop off the bus we got bombarded with tour guides trying to sell their tours on their boats, but they were top expensive. We just had to go to the restaurant by the pier and arrange for the water taxi which cost 180 pesos per person return.

Happy campers on the water taxi

Once you arrive in Yelapa, you can be dropped off at two piers or right at the beach. We chose the pier closes to the waterfall hike.

My spin on this area is, if you have more time, stay a couple of days and wait till the crowd leave and enjoy the place. Otherwise, it’s way too busy, unless you like that kind of beach.
