Fisher Theatre Detroit
This theatre is one of those landmarks of Detroit. The building, which contains the elaborate 2,089-seat Fisher Theatre, was designated a National Historic Landmark 29 June 1989. It also houses the headquarters for the Detroit Public Schools.
While visiting this theatre, the streets were empty, and so was the lobby, it almost felt like this theatre/building has been abandoned like many of the buildings just several blocks from the downtown core. We did visit during a national holiday “Independence Day”, so I wonder if Detroit is in the depression or the locals just enjoy their holiday away from the downtown core. Either way, we had a nice look in this building and tried to imagine the hustle and bustle of this iconic building.
