Rafting Athabasca River
Float trips and waves, no matter what you are into, rafting has it all. There are some great rivers here for fun or even adrenaline seekers. I always look forward to the annual rafting pentathlon every year, where all the local companies compete for the “Mark Oddy Memorial Golden Paddle”. Mark Oddy was a guide who worked for the very first rafting company in Canada (Jasper Whitewater Rafting Co.), he died in a kayaking accident on the McKale River in British Columbia.
Float trips are just my thing when I have friends I want to spend some time floating down the river on class one rated sections. We can carry loads of stuff like food and beverages. Camping is another option to consider with a raft, like car camping on water.
